My publishing resume includes two non-fiction books of inspirational observations, three full-length contemporary Christian romances, and two novellas featuring some of the same characters. So far, nothing historical. I have always been fascinated by history, and even helped start a historic preservation organization. Still, this location doesn’t fit neatly in my genre,
So, go ahead, ask me why I was there on Friday?
First, it was a beautiful spring day for a drive into the beautiful hills a little over an hour from home. Secondly, this place and I have history of our own. Ouachita Life, the magazine that featured my monthly column has been available here for years. Third, I have attended a fantastic fall festival here three times, and have loved meeting eager readers.
This general store that looks like it came directly out of the Walton’s television series is the most profitable retail location for my books! When Hubby suggested a “field trip” I was ready to go. The owner, Lynna McWilliams was glad to have more copies to sell, I found some vintage embroidered table napkins, and promised to come back for the festival again.
The writer’s life has been everything I expected, and nothing I could have dreamed. Thank you Lord!
