They don’t stay small for long. This is a painful truth that we repeat often. As of today, we have received four announcements for graduating seniors. All of these kids should still be tiny, but, like this picture of my grands illustrates, they grow up much too fast. The writer of the Proverbs recognized this as well, and gave us some comfort that is every bit as relevant today as it was in the days of Solomon. “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 KJV. Parents and grandparents can look back with regret for the things we should have done differently while they were young. Or, we can celebrate with them, confident that the time and effort we invested in their upbringing will stay with them. Trust in the Lord. With their Savior by their side, they will have all they need to live life on their own.
