Today, my readers will get a special treat. I am as excited as the precious little girl on cover of this book. We often talk to authors when they have a new book coming out. Sometimes, we hear from the heroines of those books. Today, we flip the interview to allow the hero of a brand new book to have his say.
Perfectly Matched is the third book in a series written by Scrivenings Press author Liana George. The stories are based around a professional organizer who travels to China at the request of a client to help solve a family mystery. In the first two books, the female character, Nicki Mayfield, becomes very connected to an orphan’s home there. She also finds herself drawn to a darling little girl, and a young American man. Today, we’ll hear from this fascinating guy, to get his side of the story.
Jenny: “Hi, please tell us your name, and where you live.”
Ben: “My name is Ben Carrington and I currently live in Beijing, China, although my heart and roots run deep in Texas.”
Jenny: “That must be quite a contrast. Tell us a little bit about your family and friends.”
Ben: “I come from a truly Southern family – mom, dad, brother – that loves each other and the Lord. Interestingly, a lot of my friends aren’t Texans. They’re Chinese. Among my closest are Longchen, who is not only a friend but also a mentor, and Tao, a friend by unusual circumstances whom I hope to get to know better.”
Jenny: “That shows how well you fit in. Your first thought was to mention your Chinese friends, not those back in Texas. So, what’s happening in your life right now? What are you looking forward to in your future?”
Ben: “How long do you have for me to share? No, just kidding! I wish I could say that my life was awesome, but I’m facing a few challenges with this girl I’m falling in love with and the plans we made to secure a better life for a young orphan girl. I’m hoping that once these obstacles are out of our way, marriage and a family will be in our future.”
Jenny: “Falling in love? So that answers my next question. Have you met anyone interesting lately? What intrigues you about this person?”
Ben: “Her name is Nicki Mayfield and since she’s entered my life, things have been a whirlwind. However, I wouldn’t change a thing. Nicki has helped me put my painful past behind me and shown me that I can still have a positive future. She’s also encouraged me to step into who God has called me to be – a preacher – when I wasn’t sure I was supposed to walk down that path. There’s still so much to Nicki I have yet to discover. With time, I’m hoping I get the chance to learn all there is to know about her.”
Jenny: “Nicki sounds like a very positive influence for you. So, what is the major obstacle or annoyance in your life these days?”
Ben: “Nicki and I received some shocking information recently that has our heads spinning. We’re searching for the truth, but it hasn’t been easy to find. I’m praying it will be resolved soon and Lord willing, we can move on with our plans.”
Jenny: “A bit of a personal question now, but something that I think will be important to our readers. How important is your faith in your daily life?”
Ben: “Very! God is the only thing that has kept me going over these past few weeks as Nicki and I navigate this adventure to uncover the truth. He has been faithful when my faith has faltered at times. I don’t know what I’d do without Him.”
Jenny: “That is so true for me, as well. So, Ben, it has been a pleasure to talk to you today. Do you have any parting words for our readers?”
Ben: “Even when it looks like things aren’t going to work out the way you expect them to, know that God’s plans and purposes never return void. They may not arrive the way you expect them, but they will come to pass at just the right time.”
