Today, we visit with the author of another great historical romance. This one officially launches on May 21, but it is already available for pre-order on Amazon.
Lynn U. Watson is a devotional writer, occasional quilter, reflexologist, and great-great-grand-daughter of a baron from Southwest Germany. Lynn combines her passions and her heritage Stepping Through Time Stitching Stories of Faith. Snippets of her family story inspire her fiction writing. She and husband, Steve, make their home in Bartlett, TN, where Jasmine the resident feline considers herself Princess of the Palace.
I’m excited to introduce you to this author and her book. Let’s see what she has to say.
Jenny: Welcome to the blog, Lynn. Our readers would like to know if there’s any part of this story that reflects your life. Which character do you most closely identify with?
Lynn: In my current stage of life, I would probably say Oma. My own grandchildren are similar ages to Clara and her siblings. I pray to have a godly influence like hers in their lives.
Jenny: What was your favorite discovery while researching your story?
Lynn: When I was searching for a story for Clara and her sisters to read together, I discovered Heidi was published in 1881—the year of the Tangled Promises story. Switzerland where Heidi’s story is set borders southwest Germany where the Tangled Promises takes place. It was such a logical connection. The timing fit perfectly. Heidi was one of the first chapter books I read as a child, and I’ve always loved the story!
Jenny: I feel that we can get so much benefit out of reading Christian fiction. What is the major takeaway you want your readers to have from “Tangled Promises”?
Lynn: Most important to me is the lesson reflected in Tangled Promises’ theme verse, Proverbs 22:2. The rich and poor meet together; the Lord is the maker of them all.
In a world so shattered by differences, God calls us to see we’re all the same in His eyes. From the unborn baby to kings in the land, we’re all cherished by Him. He calls us to forgiveness and love.
Jenny: So true. That’s an idea that needs to catch on in today’s world. While writing such important ideas, there must be times when you need some quick inspiration. What works best to get your juices flowing?
Lynn: When I’m feeling drained my fav go-to is a YouTube worship video. The Holy Spirit uses those to breathe fresh life in me. Some of my favorites are those from Saddleback Church’s worship team.
Jenny: Worship really helps me reset my life as well. We’d like to know a little more about your writing routine. Do you have go-to snacks or music creating?
Lynn: I’m blessed to write at my kitchen table situated in front of a large picture window that looks out onto our large backyard and the park behind our home. Lots of trees host lots of birds. Their songs entertain me especially in the morning. In season, blooming things are a special treat! Dark chocolate is my writing friend.
Jenny: What’s in your future? Should we be expecting another book to come out soon, or will you be taking some time off?
Lynn: Launching one book and completing the next are on a simultaneous timeline. As your readers are seeing this, I’ll be turning the manuscript for Frayed Promises in to my publisher. It’s book 2 in the Promised Destiny series. I’ll take a short break before fleshing out a more complete plot for book 3, Planted Promises, planned as a dual timeline novel connecting the historical story to the present day.
Jenny: That sounds fascinating. I love dual timeline stories. Thanks again for stopping by today. Do you have any parting words for our readers?
Lynn: On behalf of all Christian fiction writers out there, please take the time to review the books you read. This makes an enormous difference in how Amazon ranks our books, ups visibility to readers, and keeps more wonderful Christian fiction coming your way. Authors love to hear what we’ve written blessed you, too. All you need to do to write a review is share a sentence or two about why you liked the book.
Jenny: Agreed! If everyone who enjoyed our books wrote our review, we could all become better known authors.
Note to readers:
Lynn has agreed to provide a very interesting prize to one lucky person who posts a comment on this blog.
Since Sunflowers are found in all three books in the Promised Destiny series, one reader will win a package of Wildseed Farms sunflower seeds and some Tangled Promises inspired stickers.

Thunderous applause extinguishes her dream and ignites her worst nightmare.
Clara Reinhold’s father publicly pledges her hand to Georg Wolff. His character and arrogance match the stench of his odious cigars, but his lineage offers a suitable alliance for the station of a baron’s daughter.
A charades clue years earlier turned friendship into a promise of forbidden marriage between Clara and family carriage driver, Daniel Becker.
If she refuses Georg and follows her heart, her father disowns her and she loses everything—her loving family, dear friends, and the only home she’s known.
As a tangled web of scandal and deceit unwinds, hidden motives and illicit activities emerge among an unsuspecting ring of players changing everything but nobility’s rules.
How will justice be served?
How will Clara and Daniel overcome obstacles to claim a future beyond that of a charade?
