“For the Lord shall comfort Zion: He will comfort all her waste places;and He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.” Isaiah 51: 3 KJV.
The hardest part of any visit with our grandchildren is saying “Goodbye”. We have so much fun when we are together, and the visits never seem long enough for any of us. This past weekend, one of our grandsons could not contain his tears as we drove away. But when I last saw him, he was on his way to worship. I know that very soon, his heart was full of God’s love, and he was joyful.
I remember an old Irish blessing that states it very well, “May the Lord go between me and thee when we are absent one from another.” God will fill the empty spot between us with joy and thanksgiving. And oh, how wonderful it will be when we see each other the next time. He makes the desert of our lonely hearts into a beautiful garden. God is Good!
