“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:23 KJV.
We need our people around us. This week, my husband was working on a kitchen remodel at our house. He is acting as the general contractor for the job, bringing in experts for each task, supervising their work. When he had trouble finding someone, he went back to trusted friends who had recommended tradesmen when we were building our house 15 years ago. The end result, people who were familiar with our actual house, who remembered working here came back. They did good work the first time, we can trust them to do it again.
Yesterday, I met with some dear friends who share my passion for writing. Topics of discussion ranged from new book covers to U-tube channels and Facebook videos. One shared the news that her grandson had won a writing contest, and another located a new more centralized place for future meetings. Maybe this was not how you spent your sunny Saturday, but it was a perfect day for me.
So, today, is the Lord’s Day. Of course, you could worship from your armchair, and if you’re not feeling up to leaving the house, that’s perfectly acceptable. But, consider surrounding yourself with like minds and friendly faces. If you have not found a church home, take a chance and visit one that’s nearby. The whole purpose is to praise God and let him know that you still love Him. And in the process, you might just find your tribe.
This is me exhorting. If you want a suggestion about a good place to assemble, send me a private message.I’m sending prayers for a wonderful, fulfilling Lord’s Day for you and your family.
