Monday, July First. It’s a new beginning. Although Summer officially begins in June, July comes along and we realize summer is really here. In the next few days, we celebrate the birthday of the United States of America. My own birthday is coming up soon, so a new year begins for me as well.
Every day is a brand new chance to start over. And we are reminded that we are not walking this pathway alone. God is with us, again. Every morning. Our reminder comes from the book of Lamentations. The name of that chapter of the Bible even sounds whiny. We could just make a list of our problems and repeat them over and over, or we can make a fresh start. Chapter 3, verse 21-24 KJV says “This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new, every morning; great is they faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul’ therefore will I hope in Him.”
I love the way Matthew West puts it in his song: It’s Day One of the Rest of My Life. Starting Over!

Love this, Jenny! Mondays are like a miniature New Year’s Day–weekly do-overs. And to have a new month begin on a Sunday or Monday is the best!
