‘ Tis the Season for gifts- For EVERYONE on your list
Hello to the readers of Ouachita Life! If you are a long-time fan, you may remember that I was once a regular columnist on these pages. These days, I am literally living my dream as an author of Christian fiction.
I’m coming today to share my excitement for the most wonderful time of the year. Christians everywhere look forward to a celebration of the time that God showed us how much he loved us.
The first big celebration happened when a very special baby was born in the small town of Bethlehem. Can you imagine the joy and wonder the shepherds experienced during that fantastic gathering of the heavenly host? “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:14 KJV
Christmas has never been about gifts for me. Rather, it’s the celebration itself. The lights, the songs, the gatherings of family, even the special food. We are reminded that our Heavenly Father went over and above what had been expected to send His Son to our world.
We do love to make our family happy at this time of year, and that may mean finding a special gift for each one. If you have readers on your list- I am here to help. I’m an author, it’s what I do!
For Mid-grade readers, my friend Dawn Ford has written a series that is pure fantasy- The Band of Unlikely Heroes brings fun, adventure and inspiration. Four books, Woodencloak, Mossycoat, Tatterhood, and Shadowcape are available in paperback and Kindle versions on Amazon. Order now and they can be delivered in time for Christmas!

Adults enjoy reading at this time of year, too. There are so many sweet, easy to read stories available. Recently, four authors joined forces to write a collection called A Match Made at Christmas. Amy Anguish, Sarah Anne Crouch, Lori DeJong and Heather Greer have created tales that share the joy of the season with a touch of romance that will stick with you all through the coming year. Also from Scrivenings Press and available on Amazon.
The stories that are closest to my heart are the ones I have been laboring over since my time at Ouachita Life ended. My Crossroads Series is set in the River Valley of Arkansas, and uses characters who meet at a family-owned rodeo to encourage and uplift readers along life’s pathway. Watch for special holiday pricing on Hope Takes the Reins, Faith Moves Mountains, and Love Never Fails.

Don’t forget, I am also honored to be included in a Christmas collection called A Gift for All Time. Written with Tonya B. Ashley and Ellen E. Withers, you can follow a nativity scene from 1840s Arkansas to Civil War era Missouri, and back to a fictional town right here in our area in present day. Celebrate the greatest time of year with me, as you settle in front of your Christmas tree with a comforting cup of hot chocolate.
As always, I praise God for you, my first fanbase. May He bring you joy in the coming year.
