Welcome to another visit with a Scrivening’s Press author. Today, Deborah Sprinkle talks about the third book in her Trouble in Pleasant Valley Series. It sounds like a very exciting story with a fascinating hero. But, let’s just hear straight from the author.
Jenny: “Hi Deborah. Thanks for coming by today. Can you tell us where you got the idea for your new book?”
Deborah: “My most current release, Silence Can Be Deadly, is the third book in my Trouble in Pleasant Valley series. The inspiration for this story began with a what-if. What if a cabby picked up an assassin who left evidence in his taxi?
As I fleshed the story out, the cabby became ex-military intelligence and a man with secrets of his own.
It seems our stories have a will of their own. We start them and then they take off in directions we hadn’t anticipated! And that’s what happened with this book. It was fun to write.”
Jenny: “Can you tell us about a typical writing day? Do you write first thing, or finish other chores first?
Deborah: “On a typical writing day, I have to begin shortly after breakfast before doing anything else. If I don’t, I can get caught up in answering emails and Facebook, and lose my momentum. By noon, my stomach is growling and after lunch, I frequently take a short nap.
Then I take care of emails, etc. I seem to regain my desire to write in the evening and can sometimes go for a few hours before bed.”
Jenny: “When you are writing, what are your go-to snacks? Do you like to listen to music while you write?”
Deborah: “I run on chocolate and iced tea. And I love it when my husband comes up and plays music in the next room. The music room is next to my office. He plays an electronic organ and the accordion.”
Jenny: “How wonderful to have a personal serenade! Can you tell us about the favorite feedback you have gotten from a reader?”
Deborah: “I love it when a reader tells me she (most of my readers are women) couldn’t put my book down or stayed up reading because she needed to know how it ended.”
Jenny: “Yes, that would be a great compliment. I like to end with a totally off-the wall question. What song is going through your head right now?”
Deborah: “Because He Lives by Bill and Gloria Gaither. We sang it in church on Sunday and it’s been with me all week.”
Jenny: “If you have to have a song stuck in your head, that’s a wonderful one! Thanks for coming by today. Now, we will find out more about your background, and this really exciting book!
And great news for all of you readers- You can win a great prize. Just read all the way to the end and tell us about the most interesting cab ride you have ever had. You will be in a drawing for your very own copy of Silence Can Be Deadly.”
Forced from the career he loved and into driving a taxi, Peter Grace had grown accustomed to his simple life. Until one night when a suspicious fare and a traffic jam blew it all apart, and he was on the run again. Only this time it wasn’t a matter of changing occupations but of life and death.
He needed help and he knew where to find it. His old friend Rafe in Pleasant Valley. What he didn’t count on was finding not only the help he needed but a community of new friends and the love of his life. Zoe Poole.
The story of Captain Nate Zuberi and his wife Madison continues as they too risk their lives to help Peter. Along with Peter, Rafe, and Zoe, they strive to catch an assassin.
But can the group of friends find the killer before anyone else gets hurt?
Sounds exciting, right? Now, just tell us about the most interesting cab ride you ever had, or just tell us why you would love to read this book. One commenter will win their very own copy of Silence Can Be Deadly.
