It’s the new normal. That phrase seems to take on a different meaning every day. Social distancing, sheltering in place, quarantines. Words we hadn’t used before are part of our daily conversation. In this strange and uncharted territory, it takes a little effort, but we have been given an opportunity that didn’t exist a few weeks ago. There are so many ways to follow Paul’s advice to “sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.”
What makes us so confident that we can “smile with our eyes?”
Because so many of us are relying on technology to worship, it is easier than ever to invite others to worship with us. It’s as simple as sharing a link. They can join in from the comfort of their homes. No fancy clothes, no worries. We are all in this together. We can still sing, we can still pray, we can still study God’s word.
Right now, today, reach out to someone and invite them to learn about the love of God that will sustain us through this current crisis, and into the uncertain future. Let your hope be contagious!
